What is Alternate Bid?
- We are an online community dedicated to helping you find alternatives to products, technology, platforms, and services that don’t meet your needs. You present the problem, and our community guides you to suitable alternatives and connects you with someone who can help.
- Our initial focus is on the tech industry, where many good products and services have become problematic for customers. We don’t offer magic solutions, but we have passionate people who care about finding alternatives you can live with. Our recommendation process puts you in control.
- Nothing we offer is mandatory or charged back to you. You can take our advice as is and return as often as needed until you find what works for you. We created Alternate Bid to give you choices when you feel like you have none, and we are passionately committed to this mission. finding you alternatives to products, technology, platforms, services and more that simply dont meet your needs, wants or desires. You frame the problem, we offer the community to guide you to a set of alternatives and connect you to someone who can help. Were like that service site for finding the best plumber - if the plumber was a terrible business over charging you and you and you needed one that priced fairly - only we focus on big products where you migth not have a voice. We will cover many business domains over time but our inital focus is in the tech industry where so many good products and services have turned into small nightmares for their consumers.
- We dont have magic - we have people who care enough to help you find an alternative you can live with - and a recommendation process that puts you in the drivers seat. Nothing we offer for an alternative is ever charged back to you and nothing we offer is manditory. You take our advice as is and we hope you find it useful. If you dont - you can always come back again and again until you get what you need. Thats why we created alternate bid - to give you choices when you feel like you have none. And we are rabbidly passonate about it.
How about an example
Imagine a near monopoly in virtualization technology decided to double, triple or quadruple your costs overnight for hosting technology at the center of your business - What would you do? Most people feel like this is what happened when the largest virtualization provider on the planet decided to not care about a huge section of its customers. We’re here to help with things like that. Because this problem and problems like it are not just affecting you - they affect everyone.
Okay but that's one example and its all over the news..
You bet. Its an easy reference point to demonstrate why our founder decided to create this community. There are a LOT of great solutions out there for any number of problems. What works for you might not work for others and its hard to know where to start. Even if thats all you get from us - is a start - its worth it to know we did some good in the world. And its not the only example. There are lots of tech companies that lose their way because they cut jobs in the wrong places, decided to charge too much, stopped taking feedback or just went bankrupt. Alternate Bid cares. And we always will.
